Estampie is a medieval dance-form with a structure of AXAY BXBY CXCY and so forth, in
which X and Y are related but not identical refrains. This estampie was composed for the
redoubtable Hocket Duo (Sarah Gibson and Thomas Kotcheff) for their
#What2020SoundsLike commission project which brought together 50 composers to
ponder musically on life during the pandemic.
